To See Our Public Facebook Photo Album of This Book With Over 30 Photos! Hardcover bound in blue cloth with a colorful pictorial pastedown on the front cover.

The binding is rubbed and looks to have had some home-made repairs. The rear cover has a pale damp spot or spot of rubbing. The inner hinges are cracking with the webbing exposed and the rear pastedown is damaged near the gutter. The text block sits low in the binding, and the cloth spine is flush against the text block, so it looks as if someone has tried to recase the book themselves. The text shows light normal toning but is clean. This is a First Edition with 16 page gatherings, as noted in. (Item XXXIV on page 108). Later printings had 32 page gatherings. Some of you may remember a year or so when we posted a number of early 20th century children's books. The original owner had run a bookshop in the first two decades of the 20th century, and when he closed his shop he kept his stock, which was passed down to his descendants. The books had sat forgotten for decades until his granddaughter found them in the 1970s. There were many scarce titles, and a number of them were in the original dust jackets and even publisher's boxes. Some were nearly pristine, and some had gotten damped, but there were so many books, we had to put some into storage ourselves. A few days ago I went digging through storage and found some more nice books from that collection. We'll be posting a number of them over the next week or so as we can, so do check back!
