Viking/Mysterous Press, New York, 1981. Hard Cover with dust jacket. I spent four decades collecting modern first editions while living in four different countries as part of my career in the US Navy and between 1975 and the 1980s I attended a LOT of conventions and would schlep a lot of books and nice fountain pens around to get them signed... I would always give the fountain pen away as a present.
They often used the fountain pen itself to sign the books too and I often also got a nice signed letter thanking me for the pen! I also had some books never return - such as first edition of Carrie by Stephen King! When I lived in Europe (Spain, Scotland, Italy, Germany) I had the task of collecting any country press about SK reviews, etc. And would clip and send those to SK's secretary this is before the Internet of course, and also do the same horse trading. This is a great read of a book and the subject of many subsequent editions, but look at all the pics - I've added 10 photos of the book so that you can see everything.
Note that the signature is a little "smeary" and there's a ghost ink image on the opposite page - indication that book was closed while the ink was still wet. There's also an abrasion on the first fly-leaf on upper top. I understand fully that book collectors can be picky about books, and signatures, and condition - I was one of them for over 40 years!
