Levine Books, an imprint of Scholastic Press. Signed by Rowling on the front free endpaper opposite the title page.

Correct first trade edition: quarter bound red cloth and purple boards with diamond pattern. This is NOT a book club edition. Provenance: the book was signed to a young elementary student of the Willard Elementary School in Ridgewood New Jersey in the US around the time of publication. We have no doubut of the autographs authenticity and it will pass all third party authentication agency tests. A letter of provenance will be provided with the book which relates how few US kids could not understand her reading due to her English accent. Back then Rowling was an unknown name and she went on a bigger publicity tour on the East and West coast. Slight rubbing to boads is the main issue. The lettering on the spine is vibrant and NOT rubbed out. Clean inside, and there are no previous owners inscriptions inside the book. The dust jacket is the correct first state wrapper with the following first state points present: 1 J. Rowling on spine; 2 price of USD 16.95; 3 blurb from The Guardian on the back panel; 4 code 51695 on the cream coloured barcode. 5 Harry Potter in raised gold text on front panel.

The wrapper is in near fine condition with just slight creasing to the top edge as shown. It is now protected in removable mylar. This is a fair price for a genuinely signed first book in the Harry Potter series.

Signed first prints usually sell for double or more. This is the book which started the global Harry Potter phenomenon. Highly sought after and a landmark book that will always hold its value especially considering that J. Rowling does not sign Harry Potter books anymore bar for charity.
