AN IMPORTANT HISTORICAL ACCOUNT OF THE BATTLE THAT TURNED THE TIDE OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION. A beautiful first edition inscribed and signed by Lyman Draper on the front flyleaf of the, author's most notable work and one of our great historical monographs (Howes D-485). The Battle of Kings Mountain, fought in Cherokee County, South Carolina on October 7, 1780, was an important American victory during the American Revolution.

The battle was the first major Patriot victory to occur after the British invasion of Charleston in May 1780. The Battle of Kings Mountain, along with the Battle of Cowpens, forced General Charles Cornwallis to pull his troops out of South Carolina and move them farther north, leading to the Battle of Yorktown that ended the war. The present volume is one of only two signed copies known to exist.
