For sale is this wonderful, extremely rare first edition. Book "Tretchikoff" by Howard Timmins SIGNED by the artist Vladimir Tretchikoff. There were only 400 of these books ever produced (printed / signed).

The book itself is a stunning large format "Coffee Table" edition measuring 19 1/4" x 14 3/4" (49.5 x 37.5 cm's) and has 73 full colour plates. The gold dust jacket is of strong card type quality. The cover does exhibit some scuffing and wear signs but the interior - specifically the high quality art paper interior pages are in as mint condition as you are likely to get in a book of this age and type.

There is one page that shows some slight staining (please see the photos) but these pages are. The only pages with any signs of wear / aging. The art of Vladimir Tretchikoff is now highly sort after by those who are into'Retro' or'Mid Century' design and even common'prints' are fetching excellent prices.

Vladimir Grigoryevich Tretchikoff was born December 1913 in Petropavlovsk, Russia and passed away 26 August 2006 in Cape Town, South Africa. Tretchikoff was a self-taught artist who painted realistic figures, portraits, still life and animals with subjects often inspired by his early life in China and Malaysia, and later life in South Africa.

Tretchikoff's work was immensely popular with the general public but is often seen by art critics as the epitome of kitsch he was actually nicknamed the "King of Kitsch". The reproductions were so popular that it was said Tretchikoff was second only to Picasso in his popularity. All in all, this book is in excellent condition.
