Susan Coolidge [Sarah Chauncey Woolsey]. A signed presentation copy of the final entry in Susan Coolidge's'What Katy Did' series. Works signed by the author are exceptionally scarce. First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Signed. This book weighs 1 KG when packed. A signed first edition of the fifth and final novel in the authors beloved'What Katy Did' series. Inscribed by the author to the front free endpaper:'George Allen W. Baene with love from S. Beneath this is a contemporary ink inscription, reading'S. Is Susan Coolidge and the above serves as an autograph.

Susan Chauncey Woolsey was an American children's author who wrote under the pen name Susan Coolidge. Beginning in 1872, she wrote five children's novels about Katy and the fictional Carr family, with the family modelled after her own relations, and Katye based on the author herself.

With sixteen pages of advertisements to the rear. Signed works by the author are vanishingly scarce. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Rear joint starting to tail, and slightly tender. Author's inscription and former owner's inscription to a front blank. Pages bright, with instances of light spotting. Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear. Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy. Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones. Often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy. Some more serious faults as will. Be described in the condition report under'condition. Good Only - Meaning one or more faults that could really do with repair. As with good only above but with other faults. Leaving a compromised copy even after repair. Really bad and possibly seriously incomplete. We only sell books in this condition where their rarity or value makes them.
