Agatha Christie's "The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding and a Selection of Entrées" first edition, first printing. Signed and inscribed with a wonderful Christmas message by Agatha Christie "A Merry Xmas Mystery Gift with very much love from Agatha Christie, Wallingford, December 1960".

Published for The Crime Club by Collins, St. James Place, London in 1960. A short story collection featuring a mixture of both Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot stories! 255 pages with no bookplates, no other signatures or marks. At the top of the front end paper there appears to be a small area where possibly a previous owners name has been erased.

Beautifully bound in original covers which are in great condition, some bumped corners. As with almost every copy of this particular first edition I have seen, there is quite a lot of foxing to the first and last 5 pages or so of this book. Unclipped first issue dust jacket priced at 12s 6d net. This lovely dust jacket has signs of shelf wear with some small closed tears and some small chips at the top of the spine.

However considering it is almost 57 years it is lovely, complete and now comes in a new, clear, removable dust jacket protector. Agatha Christie and her husband Max Mallowan lived in Wallingford after purchasing Winterbrook House in 1934.

There is strong evidence that Miss Marple's house (Danemead in St Mary Mead) was based on Winterbrook House. It was the house in which Agatha Christie died in 1976. This book came from Jack Palance's bedroom library. As can be seen in the photos the rear of the bookplate has "JP - 2006" written on it and age-related toning. I will be listing other signed books from my collection in the coming weeks.
