A superb copy inscribed and signed by the author of this mystery novel by Nina Bawden. First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Signed, With Dustwrapper. This book weighs 0.5 KG when packed. The first edition of this work.

The gripping story of a man who lost everything he had. What will a damaged man do to himself and others to adapt in a post-war world in which he does not fit? This tautly written account of a fallen hero is a remarkable piece of fiction by Nina Bawden. Bawden's work has always been praised by many; she was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1987 and 2010, and is one of the very few who has served as both a Booker judge as well as a Shortlist author.

Inscribed by the author to front free endpaper: For dear Juliet, with innate affection - and gratitude for encouragement and advice and help. In the original publisher's green cloth binding, with titles stamped in gilt to spine.

Externally lovely with only minor shelfwear and slight bumping to head of spine. Inscribed and signed by author to front free endpaper, dated 1961. Dustwrapper is price clipped and very smart, with only minor shelfwear. Spine to wrapper is slightly sunned.

Pages are bright and clean. Overall Condition: Near Fine Very Good Indeed. Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear. Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy. Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones.

Often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy. Some more serious faults as will. Be described in the condition report under'condition. Good Only - Meaning one or more faults that could really do with repair. As with good only above but with other faults.

Leaving a compromised copy even after repair. Really bad and possibly seriously incomplete. We only sell books in this condition where their rarity or value makes them. Major defects will be described. Please ask for details and conditions. Please note we cannot accept USD cheques. This item is in the category "Books, Comics & Magazines\Antiquarian & Collectable".
