Small bump to top edge of spine, resulting in small crease and tiny closed tear. Spine of dustjacket a smidgen faded, as is is usual for this book, although the spine and rear of the jacket were printed in paler tone than the front of the jacket. A few minor spots to top edge of text block, and less so to fore- and bottom edges.
Very light wear to edges of jacket. Appears unread or only lightly read, with no straining to the gutter of the pages. No foxing and just a hint of age-toning to edges of paper. Top edges of front inside flaps of jacket each with very thin line of sunning / discolouration.A nice copy in very collectable condition. Kastner had produced a movie adaptation of Murdoch's novel A Severed Head [1961] the year beforehand, and the pair consequently had a friendship. It is possible Murdoch was drawing attention to this newly published novel, with an eye on another future adaptation, but none was made.
