The Birthday Cake: A Lift-the-Flap Pop-up Book. 9.5" by 6.5". A signed first edition of Ron Van Der Meer's charming children's pop-up book about a mouse's attempts to eat her birthday cake. The first edition of this work, flat signed by Van Der Meer, the author and illustrator, to the front pastedown. Illustrated with six double page colour pop-ups, all in full working order, and with five lift-the-flaps. The charming work tells the tale of Little Mouse who is about to eat her birthday cake when she notices Fatty Cat hiding behind it, trying to steal the cake. There are disturbances by a number of animals until at last little mouse eats her cake.

Stamped'Ex-Libris Megan + Michael Dawson' to the front pastedown. In the publisher's original paper covered boards.

Signed by the author to the front pastedown, alongside a former owner's stamp. Pop-ups in full working order.

Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear. Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy. Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones. Often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy.

Some more serious faults as will. Be described in the condition report under'condition. Good Only - Meaning one or more faults that could really do with repair.
