Sacred Hunger' by Barry Unsworth (1930 - 2012) won the Booker Prize jointly with Michael Ondaatje's'The English Patient' in 1992. It was the last time a double win was allowed, and thereafter the rules were changed allowing for only one'best' book.
Unsworth was shortlisted for the Booker twice more. He wrote 17 novels and is best remembered for his excellent historical fiction.
