Ex-Library book with the usual ex-library issues glued pockets, discarded stamping, etc. , although the dust jacket is in decent condition for an ex-lib!
I spent four decades collecting modern first editions while living in four different countries as part of my career in the US Navy and between 1975 and the 1980s I attended a LOT of conventions and would schlep a lot of books and nice fountain pens around to get them signed... I would always give the fountain pen away as a present.
They often used the fountain pen itself to sign the books too and I often also got a nice signed letter thanking me for the pen! I also had some books never return - such as first edition of Carrie by Stephen King! When I lived in Europe (Spain, Scotland, Italy, Germany) I had the task of collecting any country press about SK reviews, etc.
And would clip and send those to SK's secretary this is before the Internet of course, and also do the same horse trading. This is a great read of a book and the subject of many subsequent editions, but look at all the pics - I've added 9 photos of the book so that you can see everything. It has been in a protective library Mylar cover since I bought it when it was discarded by the library in Brechin, Scotland - I've changed the Mylar to a new, conservation Brodart Mylar. I understand fully that book collectors can be picky about books, and signatures, and condition - I was one of them for over 40 years!
