Collected Poems, Keith Douglas. 1951. 1st Edition, possibly signed. Poetry Londo
Red cloth with gilt lettering to spine, in the original but albeit poor dust jacket. Edited by John Walker and G. The scarce first edition published by Editions Poetry London; a much more common edition was published more than a decade later by Faber. This copy with an inscription to the front endpaper,'RWB & DMB with the compliments of the Admiralty. I have another EPL volume by Douglas (Alemein to Zem Zem) inscribed by the publisher's co-founder, Meary James Thurairajah Tambimuttu. This might be an inscription from him or somebody similarly close to the press or indeed to Douglas, but I cannot confirm. Condition: A very good or better book, the cloth clean and a little pushed at spine tips but the binding firm and square, the contents usually fine but for a little offsetting to prelims. Jacket poor, with evident loss to spine panel, some foxing, tears, chips and wear.
