As photo, James Herbert's Haunted, this is a hardback bound limited first edition signed and numbered by the author, without dust jacket but in a black slipcase. This was published in July 1988 and was limited to a print run of 250 copies, this is number 249. The normal trade "first" edition hardback with dust jacket was published a month later in August 1988 with a first edition print run of 35,000.

This book differs from the trade first edition in that the books motif of a girls figure silhouetted against a house is embossed on the front cover and that the end papers are mottled instead of plain black. Featuring the popular character David Ash.

The book is in excellent condition, although there is a white line mark on the slipcase (see photo). A very rare item, only 250 in the world.
