Siegfried Loraine Sassoon (1886 - 1967) was an English poet, writer, and soldier. Decorated for bravery on the Western Front, he became one of the leading poets of the First World War.
Later he published a three-volume fictionalised autobiography, collectively known as the "Sherston trilogy". Memoirs of an Infantry Officer was the second volume, preceded by Memoirs of a Fox-Hunting Man (1928) and succeeded by Sherston's Progress (1936). Limited to 750 copies and signed by the author.
