This is the author's own proof copy, preceding the first printing of the first edition, and contains his own handwritten amendments to the text, and his signed inscription to the title page.

The book also shows Davey's name and address to the front cover. This copy was formerly part of the stock of the celebrated bibliographer and bookseller, George Locke, and bears his characteristic pencilled price code to the front endpaper. George Locke also owned the first printing of the novel which shows the changes made in this proof. 7 inches by 5 inches.

In good sound condition with some wear (see pictures). This was Norman Davey's third novel, and concerns a demobbed officer's obsession with a blonde girl playing the tables at Monte Carlo. This copy was formerly part of the stock of the celebrated bibliographer and bookseller, George Locke, and bears his characteristic pencilled price code to the first page.
