A Fine Binding, Recently Completed and Signed by The Binder. Poems by Percy Bysshe Shelley, selected and introduced by Richard Church. Illustrated with 37 wood engravings by John Buckland-Wright.

Published by The Folio Society in 1949, a very early Folio Society printing. First edition, first impression thus. 7.5 inches x 5 inches.

A beautifully produced and highly collectable edition of Shelley's poems. Fine binding in full blue morocco leather. Gilt panels to front and rear boards with floral corner pieces. Spine with raised bands, gilt lines, titles and centre gilt motifs to panels. Floral gilt rolls to inner turn-ins, gilt lines to board edges and headcaps.

Signed by the binder in gilt on lower front turn-in. All gilt work tooled by hand in 24 carat gold leaf. All edges of text block are original, top edge dark brown in colour. Exterior - the fine binding is in immaculate condition. Interior - text and all illustrations very clean, amazingly so for a book which is now 70 years old.

I provide tracking information to the purchaser once dispatched. An opportunity to acquire a very early Folio Society printing, now preserved in a handsome fine binding. Would make a wonderful gift and collector's item.
