We have for sale a beautiful, Original Set of the Winnie the Pooh' Quartet, individually described below. Winnie the Pooh, first edition, first printing 1926, Methuen, London. Original publisher's forest green cloth with gilt ruled border and gilt vignette design to upper board, gilt titles to spine. Vg, rubbing to head and foot of the spine and corners, cloth has retained deep colour, the gilting is fresh with little rubbing, spine is unfaded, cloth has some subtle wrinkling (visible in some light) mapped ep's have soft foxing, sporadic, small areas of moderate foxing here and there throughout, some light thumbing marks also. Neat gift inscription and attractive bookplate of an owl sat on books, one C V W Reed.
A very descent copy of Pooh, presents very nicely. Now we are Six, first edition, first printing 1927, Methuen. The best of the bunch, this is a crisp, fine copy in original scarlet cloth, gilt ruled border, vignette design and titles to sthe spine.
Corners are sharp, Binding very square, the boards are immaculate, very deep in colour, the gilting wonderfully fresh and bright. Half title and penultimate page toned otherwise the contents are superb, crisp, clean FINE condition. This copy has been signed to the title page by Shepard. House at Pooh Corner, first edition, first printing published in 1928 by Methuen. Original salmon pink cloth, gilt ruled border, vignette, titles to spine.
Vg, Salmon pink cloth has faded a touch but is very clean (so common to find grubby copies in this pale cloth) presents very well indeed, corners are square, gilting fresh, rear board a little faded. Foxed to text block and the prelim's, few pages to rear otherwise a very clean copy again. A later 1927 copy of When we were very young makes up the quartet.
