For sale is the true first edition of the modern classic'Shantaram' by Gregory David Roberts. Published in 2003 by Scribe Publications (Melbourne, Aus). This copy is signed by the author with a full page, handwritten quote from the book on the title page. In the reprints the bold brackets were added to the word'Scribe' on the rear inner dustjacket flap, plus the photograph of the author is a different shot from the first printing (the reprint shows the author face-on with a slight smile, whereas for the first edition the author has turned his head toward the camera & is not smiling).

The author photograph is by Maurice Grant-Drew in both the first edition & reprints. The Australian edition preceded all others, & was first published in 2003, followed by the US & UK editions, which both appeared in 2004.
