SIGNED Nobuyoshi Araki CHIRO MY LOVE First Edition First Printing Tokyo Love Mar

Inscribed and signed (with the initial "A") by Nobuyoshi Araki to the FFEP. Issued with no dustjacket, the interior is clean with no other markings. Boards are mildly soiled, the spine is sun faded and there is a small nick to the top corner of the spine. Please see photos for condition.

This book, measuring approximately 5 1/4 by 7 1/2 inches, is considered by some to be one of his best books and certainly his most poignant. As Nobuyoshi Araki and his wife never had children the cat Chiro, who showed up at their door one day, occupied a special place in their hearts.

The story that I have heard is that, when his wife had cancer and death seemed certain, Araki rushed to create and have this book made for her. In fact if you look at photographs of Yoko in her coffin you can see that this book and this book alone was laid in.

I don't know the inscription but I have also heard that it was at her funeral that inscribed copies were given to many of the attendees. This is a very rare book and I've not seen one on the market in some time and find none listed now as well.
