Octavo, full-bound patterned cloth with gilt-stamped title to spine. First Edition, First Printing mixed issue with raised indistinct 8 in publication date and "a" to last line of p. 88 of Evelyn Waugh's classic, Scoop. Presenting well with the author's signature on the front endpaper.

Scoop is a 1938 novel by the English writer Evelyn Waugh. It is a satire of sensationalist journalism and foreign correspondents. When he got a scoop on the invasion, he telegraphed the story back in Latin for secrecy but they discarded it. Waugh wrote up his travels more factually in Waugh in Abyssinia (1936), which complements Scoop. Original full-bound patterned cloth boards present fairly well with moderate to heavy shelf-wear and rubbing throughout.

Same to edges with toning and some loss. Moderate wear to head corners and head and foot of spine with some fraying to foot of latter. Spine relatively clean with well-retained gilt stamped title.

Two open tears to rear hinge. Text blocks age-toned but mostly clean with only a few very spots to fore-edge. Mild spotting through dedication page with a few scattered in text. Signed by the author on the front endpaper.
