Originally published in France, and later translated into English. Accompanied by an incredible autographed letter, signed by Pierre Boulle as P. Boulle , and dated 8th December 68 , in the year of the first Planet Of The Apes blockbuster award winning Movie which skyrocketed the series to fame! Boulles letter is inscribed to a fan, and thanking him for your letter & for all the kind things you say about my books. An spectacular first print book, with a wonderful autographed letter.
The crisp book has black quarter cloth and grey paper boards, with bright unfaded orange titles to spine, and circles to front board. The book is in great condition, with sharp corners, and no edgewear.
The binding is tight and square. The end papers are in perfect condition with no owner names, no bookplates, no bookstore stamps, and no inscriptions. Bright unfaded orange top stain applied by publisher. Beautiful book, internally appearing as unread!
The dust jacket has strong vibrant colors and presents in near fine condition having benefited from some slight restoration to the spine tips by an expert paper conservator. The stunning dust jacket has no edgewear, no chips, no rips, no stains, no fading but very very slight to the red spine titles (the spine title still has alot of the red tones which is most unusual as this book is usually found with very faded spine titles), no rubbing and no foxing.
The dust jacket is now protected in a new clear archival cover. The letter is 5.25" x 8", and includes Boulle's handwritten address in Paris along the top left corner. The letter has expected folds, else in near fine condition. A very handsome example of this rare classic sci-fi title in highly collectible condition paired with a fantastic signed letter written entirely in the hand of Pierre Boulle. Makes an excellent unique set!
