An extremely rare book in its own right, this 1999 first edition of'Beksinski', published by Bosz Art in Poland, is rendered even more special and unusual by the fact that it bears the artist's signature. Beksinski was notoriously avoidant when it came to engaging with consumers of his art and the art world, going so far as to avoid his own gallery openings. How this book ended up being signed by him is anyone's guess, but surely there can't be many such examples out there. Signature is in ballpoint pen with clear sheen and indentation, which I have tried to convey in listing photographs. Externally, damage to top of spine is illustrated in photos provided.
This book has been a real prize of my collection for many years and I never really wanted to sell it - particularly given how it has and will continue to appreciate in value over time as more and more people become aware of Beksinski and his work's profound legacy within the art world. However, under present circumstances i. Trying to self support through the pandemic while also saving up for doctoral study i'm reluctantly giving it a go.
