Alms for Oblivion (The Rich Pay Late; Friends in Low Places; The Sabre Squadron; Fielding Gray; The Judas Boy; Places Where They Sing; Sound the Retreat; Come Like Shadows; Bring Forth the Body; The Survivors). Each volume is signed by Simon Raven (please see below for details). Ten volumes complete, all first printings. Simon Raven's Alms for Oblivion series is a sequence of ten novels covering the period 1945 to 1973 and focus on a group of upper and upper middle class characters. The early novels are robust satires of the English upper set of the mid-1950s, but the later tend to a more detached and philosophical tone, becoming concerned with the occult and supernatural, and including strange happenings.

The Rich Pay Late Anthony Blond, 1964. Signed to the title page "Simon Raven, April 1980".

Very good condition with a neatly price-clipped dustwrapper. Friends in Low Places Anthony Blond, 1965. Very good condition, a hint of a lean to the spine and a small area of tanning to the white titling to the wrapper.

Light foxing to page edges. The Sabre Sqaudron Anthony Blond, 1966. A little light edgewear to the wrapper, otherwise a very good copy. Fielding Gray Antony Blond, 1967. Signed to the title page "Simon, April 1980".

A very good copy indeed. The Judas Boy Anthony Blond, 1968. Signed to the title page "Simon Raven". Places Where They Sing Anthony Blond, 1970. Lightly foxed to the page edges else a very good copy.

Sound the Retreat Anthony Blond, 1971. Signed to the half-title page "Simon Raven". Light surface wear to the joints of the wrapper, else a very good copy. Come Like Shadows (Blond & Briggs, 1972, 223pp with the original wraparound band from the publishers). Bring Forth the Bodies Blond & Briggs, 1974.

Signed and dedicated to the title page, "Ralph from Simon, July 1984". Light wear to the wrapper's edges else a very good copy. The Survivors Blond & Briggs, 1976. Neatly price-clipped with publisher's sticker.

Some light wear to the upper panel of the wrapper over the N of Raven, otherwise a good solid copy. All of the ten volumes are in very good condition with any minor wear noted above.
