The First UK edition published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1974. The BOOK is in Very Good+ condition. Tiny bump right upper corner. Light 6 cm crease to the upper corner of the rear end paper. Purple top-stain has faded but is still present. Text-block very lightly toned and spotted. Free from inscriptions and markings. The Dustjacket is neatly price-clipped and is in Very Good+ condition. Minor edge-wear at the spine ends and corners.

Spine colouring is faded as usually encountered. Small piece of archival tape to the head of the spine on the verso for reinforcement - does not show through to the front. The dustjacket is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The Book has been Signed by John le Carre to the title page in black pen.
