For sale is the very rare TRUE FIRST STATE of the first edition and first impression of A CLOCKWORK ORANGE by Anthony Burgess published in 1962. The book is in decent condition with all pages intact with typical ex-lib qualities.

The initial pages have water stains on the page borders, but all of the text blocks on the pages remain clear. The rest of the book is completely clean too and has no stains or foxing. Note this is the scarce FIRST STATE so comes in the original black cloth as opposed to the purple cloth that was adopted from the second state of the first impression. The book comes in its original, un-clipped dust jacket that is also a FIRST STATE jacket. The DJ is now protected in Mylar.

The book is from the private collection of the famous cricket commentator, the late OBE Henry Blofeld and comes with his signature on the first page. A unique and very rare book that has defined so much of modern culture available at a decent price.
